New School Bus Safety Law in Effect in Kentucky 🚌

Posted Date: 08/07/26 (10:21 AM)

You will start seeing our wonderful bus drivers on the roads soon as they start practicing their routes! 🤩

With our yellow school buses on the road, we want to make you aware of a very important new law in Kentucky regarding school bus safety.

KRS 189.370

  • Drivers must now stop in all directions when there is no physical barrier or unpaved median, even on 4-lane roads like parts of Lexington Road and US 60.
  • Opposite traffic can proceed with caution only when an elevated barrier or median is present.
  • If a driver illegally passes a stopped bus and cannot be identified, KRS 189.370 presumes the registered owner or lessee was driving and subjects them to the fines and penalties unless that
    presumption is rebutted.
Thank you for helping us keep our kids safe as we transport them to and from school!
