Superintendent’s Report

Thank you to our WCPS staff members, community leaders, elected officials, organizations, and agencies who have worked so hard to keep our community safe. Thank you to our community partners and WCPS team for working to ensure that the needs of our students and families are met.

In Dr. Jones' report this month, she highlighted the recent meetings of her H.I.V.E. groups. Dr. Jones meets with students, parents, caregivers, and community leaders to increase two-way communication and to work together to keep Woodford County Public Schools a successful and special school district.

Board Presentations
  • Mentors & Meals Presentation: Lisa Johnson and McKenna Halderman presented on the Mentors & Meals middle school program in Woodford County. Mentors & Meals is a program that provides mentorship, friendship, homework help, and a meal to middle school students in the after-school hours. By giving students a place to connect with their peers and with high school and college mentors, middle school participants thrive! Click here to view the presentation with data, photos, and more information.
  • School Safety Presentation: WCPS Police Chief Steve Sutton shared that the district will be receiving three vehicles for our School Resource Officers this semester. Thank you to the Woodford County Sheriff’s Department and the Boone County Sheriff’s Department for their donations. In the fall, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department donated two cruisers, and these vehicles have been extremely helpful for our SROs. We are excited and grateful for these donations!
  • Curriculum & Instruction Update: WCPS Chief Academic Officer Ryan Asher presented on the district’s Comprehensive District Improvement Plan (CDIP). The CDIP is a requirement from the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE). The CDIP is a plan developed by the local school district with the input of parents, faculty, staff and representatives of school councils from each school in the district, based on a review of relevant data that includes targets, strategies, activities, a time schedule to support student achievement and student growth and to eliminate achievement gaps among groups of students. Through the improvement planning process, leaders focus on priority needs, funding and closing achievement gaps among identified subgroups of students.
